Vedanta Limited has achieved record aluminium and alumina production in the second quarter of FY2025–26, reflecting its operational excellence and strategic growth initiatives. For the three months ending September 30, 2025, total aluminium output reached 617,000 tonnes, a 1% increase compared to the same period last year. The Jharsuguda smelter contributed 467,000 tonnes, while the BALCO facility added 150,000 tonnes.
Alumina production at the Lanjigarh refinery reached a record 653,000 tonnes, a 31% year-on-year increase, driven by efficient capacity utilization. These milestones were achieved through enhanced operational efficiencies across Vedanta’s facilities.
To sustain growth, Vedanta plans to invest ₹13,226 crore (approximately $1.6 billion) to expand aluminium production capacity to 3.1 million tonnes per annum by FY2028. With these strategic investments, Vedanta is well-positioned to meet India’s rising aluminium demand and maintain its leadership in the global metals industry.
