The TMS 2025 Annual Meeting & Exhibition was a resounding success for its host, The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society, with a record-breaking attendance of just over 4,700 professionals.
Last week’s meeting in Las Vegas, USA featured more than 3,400 oral presentations and in excess of 650 posters, spanning topics related to minerals, metals, and materials science and engineering.
“The remarkable turnout at TMS2025 is a testament to the enduring vitality and importance of this event within the materials community,” stated Srinivas Chada of General Dynamic Mission System, who served as TMS President during the event.
Chada noted that, “TMS has overcome the lingering effects that COVID-19 had on in-person events: we are once again seeing a healthy, vibrant event that brings together materials professionals from around the world to collaborate, network, and find common ground on the scientific challenges that impact us all. 
Highlighting the event’s commitment to recognizing excellence, TMS 2025 honoured distinguished individuals with prestigious awards, including the induction of seven exceptional members into the 2025 Class of Fellow.

Aluminium was well represented at the trade show, with conference papers focused on primary smelting, electrode technology, a cast shop supplier forum, CO2 management in smelting and an investigation of alternative fuels.
Producers represented included Emirates Global Aluminium, PT Inalum, Constellium, Rio Tinto and Norsk Hydro, as well as technology supplier companies such as REEL Aluminium, Fives, Wagstaff and Gouda Refractories to name a few.
The TMS 2026 Annual Meeting & Exhibition will be held in San Diego, California, from March 15-19, 2026.
The call for abstracts will launch in May 2025.
