As inspections intensify across the UK’s glass and glazing sector, Thermoseal Group is urging insulated glass unit (IGU) manufacturers to ensure strict compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), part of the Department for Business and Trade, is scrutinising manufacturing practices, with heat soaked thermally toughened glass currently under the spotlight.

Industry-Wide Compliance in Focus

The OPSS, tasked with safeguarding product integrity, has begun detailed checks into manufacturers’ Factory Production Controls, Declarations of Performance, and adherence to CE and UKCA markings. According to the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF), these inspections aim to eliminate substandard components from the market and ensure long-term safety.

Thermoseal Group: Full Traceability and In-House Control

Thermoseal Group’s Sales Director, Mark Hickox, assures that the company is fully prepared. “We manufacture the vast majority of our products in the UK, with complete traceability and full test data,” he said. Their EN1279-certified test lab verifies product reliability, offering customers peace of mind.

Global Recognition for Product Excellence

Recent results from IFT Rosenheim confirm Thermoseal’s Thermoflex as the world’s highest-performing flexible spacer bar, also BFRC-approved. As Hickox notes, rigorous R&D and compatibility testing ensure Thermoseal products help set higher benchmarks for quality across the glass industry.
