Unveiling a Cutting-Edge Collaboration: Guardian Glass and Kuraray Secure French DTA for Guardian SunGuard™ High Durable Coated Glass with SentryGlas® Xtra™ Interlayers

In a groundbreaking partnership, Guardian Glass and Kuraray have successfully secured a Document Technique d’Application (DTA) for the compatibility of Guardian SunGuard™ High Durable (HD) coatings and SentryGlas® Xtra™ interlayer material. This collaboration opens doors for architects and façade consultants to explore innovative possibilities in designing building envelopes with exceptional strength and energy performance.

DTA Validation for Maximum Flexibility

The DTA validates the compatibility of laminated Guardian SunGuard™ HD glass with SentryGlas® Xtra™ interlayer in various applications. From the outer envelope of double-skin facades to canopies and atriums, this combination excels in delivering high resistance to mechanical and wind loads. Architects can now confidently utilize this dynamic pairing in their designs, backed by the assurance of DTA validation.

Harnessing Strength and Efficiency

SentryGlas® Xtra™, a component of SentryGlas® ionoplast interlayers, boasts unparalleled tear resistance and stiffness—five times and up to 100 times more than conventional PVB interlayers, respectively. This strength, coupled with reduced susceptibility to moisture exposure, allows for a potential 30% reduction in overall glazing thickness. Beyond structural advantages, this reduction contributes to lowering embodied carbon by approximately 27%, showcasing our commitment to environmental stewardship.

Guardian SunGuard™ HD: Aesthetic Excellence and Durability

Complementing this strength, Guardian SunGuard™ HD coatings offer a range of aesthetics, external reflectivity, and varying levels of light transmission and solar factor. Ideal for monolithic applications, these coatings are crafted from highly resistant materials, ensuring durability and longevity.

Matthieu Laude’s Perspective

Matthieu Laude, Product Manager at Guardian Glass in Europe, expresses his enthusiasm, stating, “This partnership with Kuraray positions our Guardian SunGuard™ HD solar control products as an ideal solution for monolithic applications. The readily available French DTA certification streamlines the certification process for our customers, saving time and costs associated with project-specific certifications.”

Environmental Commitment and Certification

Both SentryGlas® and SunGuard™ HD products come with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). Additionally, Guardian coated glass holds FDES (Fiches de Déclaration Environmental et Sanitaire) certifications. SunGuard™ HD products proudly bear the bronze level v3.1 Cradle to Cradle certification®, underscoring our dedication to environmental sustainability.
