Rising demand for energy-efficient buildings is driving growth in insulation fiberglass, pushing manufacturers to adopt materials that extend furnace life, incorporate more recycled content, and reduce CO₂ emissions. SEFPRO is supporting this transition with its upgraded WOOL & LEAF refractories, designed for glass wool and stone wool furnace applications.

The redesigned WOOL line features a uniform distribution of chromium oxide in low-porosity grains, resulting in consistent corrosion patterns while using less chromium oxide than traditional refractories. Industrial trials show WOOL delivers around 10% better corrosion resistance than earlier versions and up to 30% more than conventional high-chromium alternatives, minimizing chromium sublimation and ensuring smoother wear.

LEAF products, supplied bisque-fired, finish sintering during application, allowing quicker furnace heat-up, excellent thermal shock resistance, and similar corrosion protection as WOOL. Both lines boost the use of secondary raw materials, supporting circular economy initiatives and aiding decarbonisation in the glass sector.

SEFPRO also provides complementary solutions, including WOOL 50 CAST/MORTAR, ERCHROM 30 CAST/MORTAR, SEFPRO CARE® CHROM50 for repairs, ZIRCHROM 85 for extreme corrosion, and ZIRCHROM HER for high electrical resistivity.

By combining durability, efficiency, and sustainability, SEFPRO’s WOOL & LEAF refractories help insulation fiber manufacturers achieve higher furnace uptime, improved glass quality, and reduced environmental impact.
