From June 23 to 25, Cernobbio hosted the Made in Italy Innovation Forum, a landmark gathering of Italy’s top innovators committed to advancing sustainable manufacturing. Among the distinguished participants, Scm Group showcased its leadership in machinery technology, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of the glass industry’s eco-friendly transformation.

Organized by MICS (Made in Italy Circolare e Sostenibile) and funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research under the PNRR program, the forum addressed key themes such as Industry 4.0 and 5.0, artificial intelligence, robotics, and green technologies. The initiative unites 25 partners across furniture, automation, mechanics, and apparel sectors, industries closely linked to glass manufacturing through shared innovation and production challenges.

For the glass sector, embracing circular economy principles and eco-design is vital. Scm Group’s decades of experience in advanced machinery enable manufacturers to optimize processes, reduce waste, and enhance energy efficiency, all critical to sustainable flat glass production and processing.

Enrico Aureli, President of Scm Group, also serves as CEO of Aetna Group and President of Acimall, reinforcing his influence across Italian capital goods industries. At the forum, Aureli highlighted the importance of cross-industry “contamination”, sharing technologies and best practices from wood processing, automotive, and packaging to invigorate innovation in glass manufacturing. He stressed how a collaborative “Made in Italy” ecosystem can effectively respond to global challenges, including tariffs and market volatility.
