SCHOTT AG Joins United Nations Global Compact: A Commitment to Sustainable Corporate Governance
SCHOTT AG, the leading international technology group, is proud to announce its participation in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest and most crucial initiative for sustainable and responsible corporate governance.
A Clear Pledge to Sustainability: Aligning with the UN Global Compact
Recognizing its global influence, SCHOTT acknowledges its unique responsibility for sustainable development. With a resolute dedication to sustainable corporate management, the company joins hands with the UN Global Compact, aligning its processes and strategies with ten universally-accepted principles focused on human rights, labor, environmental protection, and anti-corruption.
An Ambitious Pursuit of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Committing to a brighter and more sustainable future, SCHOTT embraces the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda, which outlines 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These SDGs encompass economic, ecological, and social dimensions, emphasizing the shared responsibility of all states and social actors worldwide.
Focusing on Impactful Contributions: Four Key SDGs
Driven by its sustainability strategy, SCHOTT aims to make the most significant contributions to four crucial SDGs:
1. SDG 3: Health and Well-being
SCHOTT’s cutting-edge products pave the way for improved diagnostic and treatment options, ensuring safe medication delivery to people. The company prioritizes the safety and well-being of its employees and partners across the supply chain.
2. SDG 5: Gender Equality
In line with its progressive foundation statutes from 1896, SCHOTT promotes a family-oriented HR policy, advocating for equal opportunities, diversity, and inclusion. A key goal is to increase the proportion of female employees, particularly at top management levels, to at least 23 percent by 2026.
3. SDG 12: Sustainable Consumption and Production
As part of its sustainability strategy, SCHOTT adopts responsible resource utilization, reducing water consumption, waste, and emissions. Pioneering solutions in the circular economy, the company collaborates with customers and reprocessing companies to develop innovative processes, striving to reintegrate used products into the production process sustainably and economically.
4. SDG 13: Climate Protection Measures
Committed to climate neutrality by 2030 (Scope 1 and 2, GHG Protocol), SCHOTT follows the principle of “avoid – reduce – compensate.” The company’s pursuit of new technologies aims to eliminate fossil fuel usage in the long run.
With this commitment to sustainable development, SCHOTT continues to lead by example, embracing a brighter and greener future for all.
