Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland Appoints Dean O’Sullivan as New CEO

Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland has named Dean O’Sullivan as its new CEO, following the retirement of long-serving CEO Mike Chaldecott, who leaves the business after an impressive 42-year career with the Group. Dean now steps into the role at a pivotal time, as the company launches its new five-year strategic plan, LEAD & GROW, positioning Saint-Gobain as a solutions-driven leader across residential, commercial, and infrastructure markets.

With 25 years of experience in the construction sector, Dean brings a strong track record of leadership across multiple Saint-Gobain businesses. He joined the Group in 2007 as a Sales Manager at Gyproc in Ireland and later became Sales and Marketing Director for the combined Gyproc and Isover Ireland businesses. In 2013, he moved to the UK to lead Saint-Gobain’s Okarno (formerly Artex), before taking on responsibility for its UK insulation activities, including Isover, in 2019.

Most recently, Dean served as Managing Director of Saint-Gobain’s UK Interior Solutions division, overseeing British Gypsum and Isover. Under his leadership, the businesses achieved major milestones, including launching Europe’s first plasterboard made with 100% recycled gypsum, partnering with Pallet Loop to support a circular pallet economy, earning the CCPI Mark for product information, and transitioning most of the road fleet to Hydro-treated Vegetable Oil.

Dean expressed his enthusiasm for the role, acknowledging Saint-Gobain’s unique heritage and its mission to accelerate a more sustainable construction sector. He also paid tribute to Mike Chaldecott’s remarkable service and leadership throughout his four-decade career.
