Reiling Reinvents Glass Recycling with New Lünen Facility

Reiling: renewal of glass recycling facility nearing completion

Reiling Group is in the final stages of commissioning its new high-tech glass recycling facility in Lünen, Germany. The project, which has been in development for nearly two years, represents one of the company’s most significant investments in modern recycling infrastructure.

The core of the renewal is a completely new hollow glass recycling plant that will fully replace the existing installation. This state-of-the-art facility integrates advanced drying units, precision KSP separation, and next-generation optical colour sorting systems. These innovations allow for far greater efficiency in processing fine grain fractions, ensuring recycled cullet meets the highest standards of purity and consistency. By achieving cleaner separation and higher-quality end products, Reiling will better serve the glass packaging industry, where flawless cullet directly translates into energy savings and reduced raw material use.

To accommodate the new recycling line, a production building over 20 metres high has been constructed, housing the plant across four storeys. The project also included extensive site upgrades, such as optimised storage layouts with dedicated partition walls for incoming and outgoing materials, renewed paved areas for safer logistics, and enhanced infrastructure to improve operational flow.

Once fully operational, the Lünen facility will stand as a benchmark for sustainable glass recycling, combining environmental responsibility with industrial innovation.
