Promat UK has introduced a new fire-rated privacy vision panel, Promat Custodia, designed to bridge the gap between functional security needs and aesthetic appeal within healthcare and secure environments.
This innovative solution seamlessly integrates into fire doors, ensuring unwavering fire safety while offering enhanced privacy and visual control.
Promat Custodia is a triple-glazed cassette boasting an E30 fire rating. Featuring an ingenious “hit and miss” blind, this cassette can be effortlessly retrofitted during refurbishment projects or seamlessly integrated into new FD30 doors. Rigorously tested to provide 30 minutes of integrity-only fire resistance, it aligns perfectly with the majority of fire doors within healthcare and custodial settings.
The cassette’s unique design comprises three layers of glass, with an inner pane gliding smoothly up and down via a thumb or key-operated knob. This mechanism emulates a blind opening and closing, allowing for flexible visibility. Users can easily adjust the blind to monitor or observe rooms as needed, providing vital oversight while maintaining privacy at other times.
Available in stylish white frost, black, or white finishes, Promat Custodia prioritizes smooth and effortless operation. Offered in two convenient sizes – 400 x 400 millimeters and 250 x 800 millimeters for taller vision panels – it caters to diverse architectural needs. The cassette is encased within a robust back-to-back stainless steel frame, further enhancing its durability and reliability.
Promat Custodia has been engineered for exceptional performance. The outer layers consist of a 19-millimeter pane of toughened safety glass and a pane of 19-millimeter PYROSEC®, Promat’s high-performance monolithic fire-rated glass. An inner 4-millimeter toughened safety glass pane, responsible for the blind’s movement, has undergone extensive testing, exceeding 100,000 cycles. This rigorous testing ensures the cassette’s longevity and resilience.
Promat Custodia proudly meets the stringent requirements of DOH Annex B, type 1, 2, & 3 for impact resistance, as well as BS EN1363-1:2020 Fire Pt. 1 Fire Resistance FD30 (Test Ref: R240015). Additionally, the control knob design has been meticulously tested and confirmed to comply with anti-ligature requirements under DHF TS001(2013), achieving a Grade A4 resistance level.
Promat Custodia joins Promat’s extensive range of high-quality fire-resistant glazing solutions. This comprehensive portfolio includes the renowned Promat SYSTEMGLAS® range, offering fire-rated glazing systems tested to provide resistance up to EI120 minutes (integrity and insulation). Available in four distinct framing types, these systems cater to a wide range of applications. Promat’s expertise extends to fire-resistant walk-on glass floor systems and a variety of glass doors boasting protection up to EI60, as well as bespoke timber fire door sets.
