Vandaglas Emmen, a leading Dutch insulating glass manufacturer, recently upgraded its production capabilities with two LiSEC VSL-A laminated glass cutting lines.
Recognizing the importance of maximizing the potential of this advanced technology, vandaglas partnered with LiSEC for comprehensive training programs designed to optimize machine performance and yield. This collaboration highlights the critical role of specialized training in successfully integrating new equipment and achieving significant production improvements.
Vandaglas Emmen, part of the larger European vandaglas group, has been a prominent player in the industry since 1998. Employing 125 people, with 70 dedicated to three-shift production, the company serves a primarily business-to-business clientele, including major construction firms and local artisans. Their commitment to high-quality, sustainable products and close customer collaboration underscores their dedication to excellence.
The decision to invest in the LiSEC VSL-A lines stemmed from a need to modernize and enhance efficiency. As Jacco Simonsz, vandaglas Process Engineer, explains, “To be well-prepared for the future, collecting data is essential. LiSEC was able to offer a comprehensive data-driven solution, which is why we chose to partner with them.” While the new machinery significantly improved capacity, it also presented a learning curve for operators. The sophisticated technology required a deeper understanding of operation, maintenance, and data analysis to fully unlock its potential.
LiSEC responded by delivering tailored training sessions designed to address the specific needs of vandaglas’ employees. Highly skilled LiSEC trainers, such as Andreas Rumetshofer, conducted both theoretical and practical instruction. Initial training took place directly at the vandaglas facility in Emmen, focusing on the operation of the new cutting lines, maintenance procedures, and the crucial role of data in optimizing production processes. The training emphasized a deep understanding of the cutting process, the impact of glass condition, and the development of optimized cutting recipes.
Building on the initial success, vandaglas further invested in training by sending four employees to LiSEC’s facilities in Austria for advanced instruction on their newly installed insulating glass lines. This hands-on experience provided valuable opportunities to work directly with the machinery, troubleshoot simulated problems, and build confidence in handling complex situations.
The collaboration between vandaglas and LiSEC demonstrates the significant benefits of investing in comprehensive training alongside advanced technology. By focusing on both theoretical knowledge and practical application, the partnership ensured a smooth transition to the new machinery, maximizing its potential and driving improvements in production efficiency and yield. This success story showcases the importance of vendor-provided training in realizing the full return on investment for advanced manufacturing equipment.
