The Dior House at Taikoo Li Sanlitun, Beijing, has officially opened, marking Dior’s largest retail presence in China and the third Dior House worldwide. Designed as a statement of luxury, architecture, and craftsmanship, the flagship introduces a new kind of retail landmark, where fashion codes are translated directly into façade geometry.
The building was designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Christian de Portzamparc, whose concept is defined by fluid lines and pointed arches that resemble unfolding petals. The sculptural envelope echoes the silhouette and movement of haute couture, referencing the flowing forms once shaped by Christian Dior’s iconic dressmaking.

At the core of this expressive façade is a complete package of high-performance glazing solutions supplied by NorthGlass, developed to combine exceptional optical purity with strong energy-efficiency performance. The main façade features glazed “brick-like” elements with a gold shimmering finish, reinforcing Dior’s refined identity while subtly aligning with cultural symbolism in China, where gold represents elegance, prestige, and prosperity.

Sustainability was a key requirement in the project brief, with the curtain wall needing to achieve maximum transparency while delivering high thermal insulation. To meet these demands, NorthGlass engineered a bespoke composite insulated glass configuration, incorporating double laminated + double insulated + single laminated layers, forming an effective thermal barrier.

This multi-layer specification supports reduced heating and cooling loads, while also providing UV filtration to protect interior finishes and merchandise, and improved acoustic comfort, critical for premium retail environments located in high-traffic urban districts.
With its high light transmission and pristine clarity, the glazing enhances the sense of openness and dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior. By day, the façade creates a seamless connection between Dior’s curated displays and the surrounding streetscape. By night, the illuminated interior radiates softly through the glass, giving the flagship a warm lantern-like glow that amplifies the petal-inspired structure and turns the building into an architectural showcase for both luxury and precision glass engineering.
