The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has renewed Commercial Solar Panel Recycling Inc.’s (CSPR) groundbreaking permit for solar panel recycling, reaffirming the company’s leadership in sustainable end-of-life management for photovoltaic systems.

Originally issued in December 2024 under NJDEP’s Research, Development & Demonstration (RD&D) framework, the permit was the first of its kind in New Jersey. Its renewal underscores CSPR’s proven compliance, operational success, and contribution to the state’s clean energy and circular economy goals. Through advanced recycling processes, CSPR recovers valuable materials from retired panels, keeping them out of landfills and returning resources to the manufacturing supply chain.

Commercial Solar Panel Recycling’s demonstrated commitment to environmental compliance and innovation aligns perfectly with New Jersey’s vision for a circular, low-carbon economy.

said NJDEP Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette.

The renewed RD&D Certificate of Authority to Operate authorizes CSPR to continue developing scalable, environmentally sound recycling methods within New Jersey.

“We’re honored to have the NJDEP’s continued confidence in our operations,” said Glenn Laga, Co-Founder and CEO of CSPR. “This renewal validates our mission to keep photovoltaics out of landfills while building a foundation for responsible recycling nationwide.”

With over 90% of retired U.S. solar panels currently landfilled, CSPR’s operations offer a vital, sustainable solution, one that positions New Jersey as a leader in clean energy innovation and responsible waste management.
