On November 19, during MADE Expo 2025 in Milan, METRA Building celebrated architectural innovation with the award ceremony of the 23rd edition of the METRA Building International Design Competition. Held within one of Europe’s most influential construction and architecture exhibitions, the event marked a significant moment for designers, engineers, and architects working with advanced aluminum systems.
Now in its twenty-third year, the competition has established itself as an international benchmark for architecture realized with METRA aluminum solutions. This edition saw more than 100 built projects submitted from over 10 countries, reflecting the competition’s growing global reach and its relevance across diverse architectural contexts. The selected works demonstrated how aluminum can be used not only for structural performance, but also for aesthetic refinement, durability, and environmental responsibility.
The evaluation process was entrusted to a multidisciplinary jury composed of experts from academia, architectural practice, and specialized publishing. Projects were assessed based on architectural quality, innovation in system application, functional performance, user comfort, and sustainability, criteria that align closely with contemporary demands in façade and building design.
The award ceremony itself was described as an emotional and celebratory moment, recognizing the vision and dedication of professionals who translated design intent into built reality. METRA Building expressed sincere appreciation to all participants for their passion and design excellence, as well as to the jury for their rigorous and thoughtful contribution.
