MEC to Invest Up to $30 Million in New Georgia Metal Fabrication Facility

Mayville Engineering Company (MEC) is expanding its manufacturing footprint in the southeastern United States with a new metal fabrication facility in Thomson, Georgia. The company plans to invest approximately $25–30 million through 2028, with the project expected to create around 140 new jobs.

MEC has acquired an existing 138,000-square-foot finishing facility in Thomson, which will be upgraded and equipped to support the company’s growing manufacturing operations. The investment will expand MEC’s capacity to serve customers, particularly in its Datacenter & Critical Power business.

According to MEC, the Thomson expansion is expected to add approximately $50 million in annual revenue capacity by 2028. The company will recruit employees across a range of positions, including operations, skilled trades, technical roles, maintenance, quality control, management and administrative support.

The project is being supported by the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the McDuffie County Development Authority and Georgia Quick Start.

MEC President and CEO Jag Reddy said the new facility will strengthen the company’s national manufacturing network while increasing its ability to support customers across multiple industries.
