Kingspan Group has completed an 881-kilowatt rooftop solar installation at its insulation manufacturing facility in Mendota, reinforcing its long-term decarbonization strategy across North America. The milestone was marked by a ribbon-cutting event held in partnership with REC Solar and Dynamic Energy.
Installed across approximately 50,000 square feet of roof space, the photovoltaic system is designed to generate around 1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. This production is expected to offset roughly 700 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, contributing directly to reduced operational carbon intensity at the site.

The Mendota installation represents Kingspan’s third rooftop solar project in North America, following earlier deployments at its facilities in DeLand and Winchester. Together, these projects form part of the company’s global Planet Passionate program, which targets solar photovoltaic deployment across all wholly owned sites and aims to achieve 60% direct renewable energy use by 2030.
The system was developed and installed by Dynamic Energy and is owned and operated by REC Solar under a 25-year power purchase agreement. This structure enables long-term access to renewable electricity while maintaining predictable energy costs and minimizing upfront capital investment.
