Glass Pharmaceuticals: SCHOTT Pharma expands operations with packaging plant in Serbia

Germany’s SCHOTT Pharma, a global leader in pharmaceutical packaging, is set to make a significant investment in Serbia with the construction of a new factory dedicated to the production of glass ampoules, syringes, and containers for injectable solutions.

The official ceremony marking the commencement of construction at the CT Park industrial zone in Jagodina signals a promising new chapter for the local economy and job market.

With a focus on serving the needs of both Western and Eastern European markets, SCHOTT Pharma’s new facility in Serbia will play a crucial role in meeting the growing demand for high-quality pharmaceutical packaging. The company’s reputation for excellence precedes it, as it currently supplies 1,800 customers across the globe and boasts a formidable production capacity of 25,000 injections per minute.

In the initial phase of operations, SCHOTT Pharma plans to employ 130 workers, with this number set to increase to 350 by the project’s completion. Production is slated to commence by the end of 2024, with glass ampoules being the flagship product catering to a diverse range of pharmaceutical applications, from antibiotics to analgesics.

SCHOTT Pharma’s expansion into Serbia underscores its commitment to innovation and growth within the pharmaceutical industry. With 17 production sites strategically located in Europe, the Americas, and Asia, the company’s global presence is a testament to its dedication to meeting the needs of customers worldwide. Employing 4,700 scientists and achieving a sales revenue of €899 million in 2022, SCHOTT Pharma continues to set the standard for excellence in pharmaceutical packaging.
