The Facade Tectonics Institute (FTI), in collaboration with Gensler, will bring together leading architects, engineers, fabricators and building enclosure specialists on June 4, 2026, for the FTI SF Hub: Advanced Façade Innovations 2026 at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMoMA).
Hosted in SFMoMA’s Koret Studios, the event will focus on emerging technologies, material innovation and performance-driven façade design. Through a series of presentations and discussions, attendees will examine how advanced building envelopes are responding to increasingly complex environmental, energy and architectural demands.

Among the featured topics is SFMoMA’s iconic façade system, a landmark example of how architectural expression and building performance can be integrated within a highly engineered enclosure. Speakers will also address the growing role of external shading systems in improving occupant comfort, reducing solar heat gain and enhancing overall energy efficiency.
A dedicated session on high-performance glazing will explore the latest developments in NFRC-certified products and testing standards, highlighting how glazing specifications influence thermal performance, daylight management and building energy consumption. Additional presentations will examine advanced composite façade systems and digital manufacturing techniques, showcasing how automation and precision fabrication are enabling more complex geometries while improving production efficiency and quality control.

Sustainability will be another central theme, with discussions focusing on innovative carbon-sequestering façade materials and technologies designed to reduce the embodied carbon footprint of buildings. As environmental regulations tighten and net-zero targets become increasingly important, façade systems are playing a critical role in supporting long-term decarbonization strategies.
