Vitro Showcases Landmark Chicago Projects Ahead of GFAB 2026

As the glass industry prepares to gather in Chicago for the National Glass Association’s Glass Fabricator Conference (GFAB) from June 14–17, Vitro Architectural Glass is highlighting several high-profile projects that demonstrate the performance and versatility of advanced glazing solutions in urban environments.

During GFAB’s architectural boat tour along the Chicago River, Vitro Architectural Glass Vice President of Sales Mark Seeton will provide commentary on notable buildings that have incorporated the company’s glass products, offering attendees a closer look at the role high-performance glazing plays in modern architecture and historic preservation.

Among the featured projects is the iconic Chicago Post Office, a 2.8 million-square-foot landmark originally designed by Graham, Anderson, Probst & White in 1921. The extensive redevelopment preserved the building’s historic character while modernizing its façade through the installation of 2,400 historically accurate windows fabricated with Vitro’s Solarban® 60 solar-control low-emissivity glass. The upgrade improved energy performance while maintaining the architectural integrity of one of Chicago’s most recognizable structures.

Another standout project is Streeter Place, a 48-story luxury mixed-use residential tower designed by SCB (Solomon Cordwell Buenz). The building’s curtainwall system incorporates Solarban® 60 low-e glass combined with aqua-blue Azuria® tinted glass, creating a distinctive appearance while helping manage solar heat gain and daylight transmission. The glazing package contributes to occupant comfort, energy efficiency, and panoramic views of Chicago’s skyline and waterfront.
