Fire at Stoelzle Flaconnage’s UK Glass Plant: Operations Temporarily Disrupted

A fire broke out on the evening of 12 July 2025 at Stoelzle Flaconnage’s glass manufacturing facility in Knottingley, West Yorkshire, UK. Emergency services responded swiftly, with twelve fire crews deployed to the site. All employees were safely evacuated, with only a few treated for mild smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and Stoelzle is working closely with local authorities. In a statement, Dr August Grupp, CEO of Stoelzle Glass Group, assured stakeholders that customer service remains the company’s top priority. “We have activated our Business Continuity Plan and are reallocating production across our sister facilities in Europe,” he said.

The group praised the quick action of the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and its on-site team for preventing further harm. While the full extent of the damage is yet to be determined, the company is focused on the recovery and rebuilding of the Knottingley site.

Stoelzle Glass Group, a family-owned business with over 200 years of history, operates five plants in Europe and one in the US. It produces high-quality glass packaging for the spirits, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and food sectors.
