Erdman Automation Launches High-Speed Spacer System for IGU Production

Cohesive Bond High Speed (CBHS)

Erdman Automation will debut its new Cohesive Bond High Speed (CBHS) spacer application line at GlassBuild America 2025 in Orlando, Florida, from November 4–6. Developed in partnership with H.B. Fuller, the system combines Erdman’s automation expertise with Fuller’s 4SG spacer technology to redefine efficiency and precision in insulating glass manufacturing.

The CBHS line advances traditional Reactive Thermoplastic Spacer (TPS) systems by introducing a dual-application process that applies the spacer to both glass lites at once. This innovation provides instant handling strength, cutting production time by over 15 seconds per unit and removing the need for extended compression or curing. Its grid-support feature simplifies assembly, while dual applicators and a dual gas press improve accuracy and consistency.

Capable of handling airspaces from 19 to 38 millimeters, including triple and thin-triple configurations, the CBHS line supports on-demand airspace adjustments and faster batching. It also reduces material use and thermal bridging for better energy performance and aesthetics.

By merging speed, adaptability, and precision, Erdman’s CBHS system represents a major step toward smarter, more sustainable, and fully automated insulating glass production.
