Vitro Architectural Glass, a leading name in the industry, has recently made waves with the launch of the latest iteration of its high-performance product, VacuMax™ Vacuum Insulating Glass (VIG). This cutting-edge development promises not only superior thermal efficiency but also a refined aesthetic appeal.

The newest generation of VacuMax™ VIG boasts a significant enhancement in thermal performance, thanks to its exclusive use of Solarban® 70 solar-control, low-e glass by Vitro. This advancement has led to a remarkable 79 percent improvement in U-values, setting new standards with wall-like R-values of up to R20. Moreover, recent visual upgrades have elevated the product’s aesthetics by eliminating vacuum ports and concealing “getters.”

Daniel Sutton, the product manager at Vitro Architectural Glass, highlighted the significance of these updates for architects and designers. He emphasized how VacuMax™ VIG offers a high-performance solution to enhance thermal insulation capabilities, drive energy savings, and reduce operational carbon footprint. Not only does it help surpass sustainable design objectives, but with its cleaner appearance and improved sight lines, it also enhances the overall visual appeal of any space.

A VacuMax™ VIG unit consists of two lites of 4-millimeter glass separated by a non-leaded proprietary metal edge seal and a vacuum space, resulting in a total thickness of 8.3 millimeters—only marginally thicker than a standard 6-millimeter glass lite. Available in a range of sizes from 0.3 by 0.3 meters to 1.5 by 3.0 meters, the slim construction and lightweight nature of VacuMax™ VIG make it versatile and suitable for integration into various traditional glazing systems, window frames, or curtain-wall applications. Its compatibility with older buildings makes it an ideal choice for retrofit projects.

The innovative insulating technology of VacuMax™ VIG sets it apart, offering thermal insulation performance that surpasses conventional insulating glass units by three to five times and monolithic glass by up to 20 times. This outstanding performance not only contributes to energy efficiency but also elevates the comfort and aesthetics of any space where it is installed.

In conclusion, the latest advancements in VacuMax™ VIG from Vitro Architectural Glass represent a significant step forward in the realm of sustainable building design. By combining exceptional thermal efficiency with enhanced aesthetics, this product offers a compelling solution for architects, designers, and building owners looking to achieve both environmental sustainability and visual appeal in their projects.
