Egyptalum has commissioned a new aluminium wire production line at its Naga Hammadi complex, doubling the company’s annual wire output capacity from 60,000 to 120,000 tonnes. The expansion represents the first phase of the Obelisk Solar Power Generation project, a broader industrial development aimed at strengthening Egypt’s manufacturing capabilities and export performance.

The new production line, with a capacity of 60,000 tonnes per year, was implemented with an investment of $17.5 million and developed in collaboration with Properzi, a specialist in aluminium wire casting and drawing technologies.

The milestone was marked by a visit from Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, who highlighted the project as part of national efforts to modernise strategic industrial assets within the public business sector. Egypt’s Minister of Public Business Sector, Mohamed Shimi, stated that the new line enhances added value, strengthens competitiveness, and supports the growth of the national aluminium industry.

According to Mahmoud Abdel Aleem Agour, operational testing is already underway to reach full production capacity. The facility has successfully produced and delivered its first batches of aluminium wire to customers.

A significant share of the increased output is expected to be exported to international markets, including Spain, Poland, Morocco, Italy, Syria, Slovenia, and Greece, reinforcing Egyptalum’s position as a competitive aluminium supplier in regional and global markets.
