Iconic steel window and door manufacturer Crittall Windows has announced that its W20 TE system now accounts for nearly a third of all consumer orders, reflecting a clear shift in homeowner priorities toward high-performance steel glazing.
The W20 TE builds on the established W20 range, retaining the slender profiles that Crittall is known for while delivering modern thermal efficiency and weather performance. The system achieves U-values of 1.4 W/m²K, complying with Approved Document L, and features dual weather seals for robust protection in both exposed and urban locations.
Manufactured from 100 per cent recycled steel and galvanised for long-term durability, W20 TE has a life expectancy of over 60 years. Its inherent strength allows for larger glazed areas, maximising natural light without compromising structural integrity, a key advantage for contemporary new builds, period renovations, and sensitive heritage projects alike.
Versatility is a strong selling point. The system can be customised in bespoke sizes and configurations and finished in any RAL or BS colour, making it suitable for a wide range of architectural styles.
Russell Ager, managing director of Crittall Windows, said: “The fact that W20 TE now accounts for 30 per cent of our consumer sales demonstrates a clear change in priorities. Homeowners are investing in long-term quality. They want authentic steel windows with proven thermal performance, and W20 TE provides that balance without compromise.”
The growing popularity of W20 TE underscores a wider trend: homeowners are increasingly seeking premium steel glazing that combines traditional design with modern performance, delivering enduring quality, aesthetic appeal, and energy efficiency.
