Clayton Glass has completed the sale of part of its business following the appointment of administrators, with three UK sites set to close and 290 employees made redundant.
James Lumb and Howard Smith of Interpath were appointed joint administrators of Clayton Glass Ltd on 18 September 2026. Following their appointment, the company and certain assets were sold to Clayton Glass Group Limited, an entity backed by the former management team.
The transaction allows operations to continue at Clayton Glass sites in Nottingham, Swindon, Canterbury and Dewsbury, preserving 283 jobs. However, facilities in County Durham, North Lanarkshire and Blackburn will close, resulting in the loss of 290 positions.
Founded in 1956, Clayton Glass manufactures insulated glass units (IGUs) for the window, conservatory, door and glazing industries. Before entering administration, the company employed 573 people across seven UK locations. 
According to Interpath, the business had experienced significant financial pressure in recent months. Rising energy and raw-material costs, combined with a prolonged period of weak demand, had placed pressure on margins.
