CelSian Academy has introduced GlassBot, an AI-powered assistant designed to enhance its General Glass Technology course. Available exclusively to course participants, GlassBot provides instant access to structured insights from the Glass Technology Handbook, a key resource covering raw materials, melting processes, furnace design, and colour and redox control.
Sjoerd Stelwagen, CelSian Academy Leader, explained that GlassBot bridges the gap between theory and practical application. “Engineers and operators need quick, reliable answers in fast-paced production environments. GlassBot turns the handbook into an interactive, on-demand reference, ensuring knowledge is available whenever it’s needed,” he said.
For newcomers, GlassBot acts as a personal mentor, reinforcing concepts learned during sessions. For experienced engineers, it functions as a rapid reference tool, helping apply complex principles directly on the shop floor.
Stelwagen, who joined CelSian in 2021 from Ardagh Glass and holds a background in chemical engineering, emphasizes that the Academy’s mission is to future-proof the glass industry by combining technology, sustainability, and human expertise.
“With GlassBot, learning doesn’t stop when the course ends; it evolves with you,” Stelwagen added. By integrating AI with hands-on knowledge, CelSian ensures that professionals can access accurate, practical insights to optimize glass production processes and decision-making.
