One Year Later: The Triumph of Collaboration as Calderys and HWI Unleash Synergies and Global Technological Exchange
In a remarkable commemoration of a year since their union, HWI and Calderys, now collectively known as the Calderys Group, reflect on an exceptionally successful journey marked by unprecedented synergies and collaborative achievements. The merger, which brought HWI and Calderys under single ownership, heralded the commencement of an ambitious program aimed at fostering technological exchange and innovation. Over the past 12 months, Calderys has seamlessly integrated a carefully curated selection of solutions from the Americas into HWI’s portfolio, concurrently introducing a range of HWI products to EMEA and APAC, making them readily accessible through Calderys’ global network.
Michel Cornelissen, President and CEO of Calderys, shares his excitement about the transformative journey, stating, “The combination brought together two dynamic businesses with complementary product ranges, creating the perfect environment for technology sharing and cooperation, ultimately benefiting the global high-temperature manufacturing sectors. I am delighted to witness the remarkable results we have achieved within just one year.”
The collaborative efforts have yielded substantial benefits for both entities. Calderys, by manufacturing a meticulously selected range of HWI products in Europe, now offers EMEA customers unparalleled advantages such as short lead times, minimal stock holdings at customer sites, and robust local technical support. This localized production approach also allows for product evolution to meet the specific needs of EMEA customers’ evolving processes, including applications in the realm of ‘green steel.’
In the APAC region, Calderys has undertaken a comprehensive transfer of dozens of HWI products to the Calderys Bekasi site in Indonesia. The ongoing efforts aim to meet the high demand for HWI products in Indonesia and strategically position key HWI products for the burgeoning petrochemical sector across the APAC region.
Conversely, HWI customers in the Americas are now benefiting from an expanded portfolio that includes Calderys’ monolithics and pre-shaped technologies, along with the introduction of proven steel casting fluxes, insulating fire bricks, tundish monolithics, and purging plugs. The collaborative efforts between the two entities are poised to continue with upcoming plans to transfer the production of additional Calderys items to HWI facilities in the coming months.
As Michel Cornelissen aptly concludes, “Throughout 2024, we will continue to add to, and update, our product portfolios, as HWI solutions are tested and made available in all geographic regions via Calderys’ global network, and Calderys products are seamlessly integrated into the Americas through HWI, now proudly a member of Calderys.”
