BGT has played a key role in the transformation of Newark Liberty International Airport’s new Terminal A by supplying advanced glazing systems that align with the project’s ambitious architectural and performance goals.
Designed by Grimshaw Architects in partnership with STV, the terminal spans more than one million square feet and serves over 13 million passengers each year. Its design emphasizes functionality, openness, and the strategic use of natural light, qualities enabled by the building’s high-performance glass façade.
BGT provided a comprehensive glazing solution, including insulating glass units with partially tempered glass, laminated safety glass with colour printing, and single-pane safety glass. These elements meet stringent technical, aesthetic, and environmental requirements, supporting both energy efficiency and durability.
With a U-value of 1.3 W/m²K, the glazing ensures thermal insulation, reducing energy consumption for climate control. The systems also deliver excellent acoustic performance and mechanical strength, essential for the terminal’s continuous use. In addition, the transparency and clarity of the glass enhance the spatial experience for travelers, reinforcing the terminal’s identity as a light-filled and welcoming space.
BGT’s contribution demonstrates its ability to deliver innovative, high-performance glass solutions for large-scale infrastructure projects.
