Ardagh Glass Packaging-North America’s Madera, California facility has once again demonstrated its leadership in sustainable manufacturing by earning ENERGY STAR® plant certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This marks the 11th time the site has received the recognition, highlighting a long-term commitment to energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
The certification places the Madera plant within the top 25 percent of similar industrial facilities across the United States for energy performance. The EPA award is based on verified, industry-wide benchmarks that measure actual energy consumption and operational efficiency.
The Madera facility plays a key role in supplying the U.S. wine market, producing approximately one million glass bottles per day. Over the years, the site has achieved continuous improvements through furnace optimisation, increased use of recycled glass, and installation of energy-efficient technologies, including advanced lighting systems.
According to Ardagh Glass Packaging leadership, these ongoing improvements reflect both operational discipline and a broader sustainability strategy focused on reducing energy use while maintaining high-quality production standards.
The ENERGY STAR program, introduced by the EPA in 1992, recognises facilities that achieve top-tier energy performance and contribute to lower greenhouse gas emissions across industry. Ardagh’s repeated success at Madera also underscores its wider environmental leadership, with multiple North American facilities consistently earning similar certifications over the past decade.
