AMBERGER GLAS GmbH & Co. KG has strengthened its insulating glass production with the integration of advanced inline inspection technology from Softsolution, introducing a new level of precision, traceability, and process reliability across its manufacturing operations.

At the core of the upgrade is the installation of the LineScanner system directly after the insulating glass press. The automated solution performs a full real-time inspection of every insulating glass unit (IGU), allowing defects to be detected immediately before the products move further down the production line. By identifying rejected units at an early stage, the company can significantly reduce rework, scrap, and production interruptions while improving overall process stability.

The LineScanner carries out a detailed inspection of glass surfaces and coatings, detecting defects such as scratches, inclusions, coating damage, and visual imperfections. The system also verifies spacer positioning, frame alignment, muntin layout, and dimensional accuracy to ensure every unit meets strict quality standards. Special attention is given to butyl defects in the edge seal area, a critical factor influencing the durability, sealing performance, and long-term energy efficiency of insulating glass.

In addition to inspection capabilities, the system provides comprehensive digital documentation and full traceability for every IGU produced. All inspection data is automatically archived, enabling transparent reporting, detailed production analyses, and faster complaint handling procedures.

According to Tobias Kerscher, Operations Manager at AMBERGER GLAS GmbH & Co. KG, the cooperation with Softsolution was successful from planning through commissioning. He noted that the new LineScanner has elevated insulating glass quality assurance to a completely new standard while helping reduce complaint rates by filtering out potentially defective glass before delivery.
