Alpen High Performance Products has announced a collaboration with Corning Inc. to produce lighter, stronger, and more energy-efficient window systems for the U.S. market. Through this partnership, Alpen will incorporate Corning’s Enlighten Glass as the ultra-thin center pane in its triple and quadruple-paned glass units, significantly reducing weight compared to conventional dual-pane glass. Alpen CEO Andrew Zech said:

Corning’s Enlighten Glass is one of the key ingredients in Alpen’s advanced insulated glass units. It enables us to deliver glass units that are lighter, stronger, and up to five times more energy efficient than standard offerings, without adding bulk.

Alpen currently manufactures these next-generation glass units on two high-speed automated lines, boosting production capacity more than tenfold.

Ron Verkleeren, senior vice president of Corning’s Emerging Innovations Group, emphasized the partnership’s synergy: “Alpen’s track record in high-performance window innovation aligns perfectly with Corning’s expertise in glass and materials science. Together, we aim to accelerate the commercialization of advanced window technologies in the United States.”

The collaboration marks a significant step toward improving energy performance and sustainability in modern building design.
