AGC Glass Europe has taken a leading role in sustainable glazing by announcing that its FINEO vacuum insulating glass (VIG) is the first in its category to obtain a third-party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). Compliant with EN 15804 + A2 and ISO 14025 standards, these EPDs provide objective data on the environmental impact of FINEO across its full life cycle. This allows architects, builders, and project owners to compare the ecological footprint of construction products using indicators such as Global Warming Potential (GWP).

Among the certified products, the 8-millimeter low-carbon FINEO stands out. Produced in Belgium from PLANIBEL low-carbon glass on high-efficiency furnaces, it uses higher cullet percentages, renewable electricity, and low-carbon soda ash. FINEO is fully recyclable and designed to last 60 years, combining sustainability with long-term performance.

The 8-mm low-carbon configuration delivers a remarkably low cradle-to-gate GWP of just 18.9 kg CO2 eq./m², covering the most impactful stages from raw material extraction to the factory gate. This makes it one of the most eco-efficient insulating glass units available, outperforming many conventional double and triple glazing options while setting a new benchmark in low-carbon building materials.
