AGC Glass Hungary Celebrates 20 Years of Innovation and Growth in Tatabánya

On of April 15, AGC Glass Hungary, part of AGC Automotive Europe, celebrated its 20th Anniversary. The occasion was marked with a celebration attended by local officials and representatives of AGC‘s management.

Let’s take a step back in time to 2004, when AGC decided to create AGC Glass Hungary Ltd. and to build a factory in the Tatabánya-Környe Industrial Park. The journey began in April 2005 with the installation of production lines, and by September of that year, the factory produced its first automotive glass. Full-scale production and first deliveries to car manufacturers started the following year.

The year 2014 was also a milestone, with the inauguration of an additional production hall bringing significant advancements to the manufacturing process. Improvements in capacity allowed for a faster and more efficient production of automotive glass. This development led to the launch of a project aimed at optimising production lines, significantly increasing the output of rear windows. This new hall also became the hub for Added Value Operations (AVO), where various components are assembled, glued and soldered onto the automotive glass. These enhancements ensure that the glass is fully prepared for seamless installation at car manufacturing plants.

Today, the factory produces annually approximately between 12 to 15 million side and back windows, and employs over 700 persons. On average, 70 trucks loaded with finished products leave the Tatabánya factory daily.

The development of regional higher education and adult training, as well as retaining participants in local higher education and adult training programmes, is of paramount importance. To this end, AGC works closely with Edutus University.

Looking to the future, AGC Glass Hungary remains committed to innovation and sustainability. The company is working on optimising production capacity and the operational excellence program, minimizing environmental impact.

Additionally, AGC Glass Hungary continues to actively build regional collaborations to strengthen its presence in the local community. In AGC’s vision for the future, increasing employee satisfaction and fostering local talent play a central role, which not only enhances competitiveness but also elevates employee creativity and dedication to new levels.
