AGC Unveils New Stopray Solar Control Coatings: Enhancing Neutrality and Efficiency

As the impact of climate change becomes more apparent, the need for advanced solar control glass has never been greater. AGC Glass Europe, a leading provider of innovative glass solutions, is rising to the occasion. Recognizing the growing demand for enhanced-neutrality solar control glazing, AGC is expanding its range of solar control glass products. These new offerings cater to customers’ increasing desire for optimal light transmission and efficient harnessing of natural daylight.

AGC Glass Europe is proud to introduce three new additions to its esteemed Stopray line: Stopray Ultraselect 60/27, Stopray Neutral 60/33(T), and Stopray Neutral 50/27(T). These cutting-edge coatings prioritize high selectivity, a color-neutral appearance, and low reflection to meet the evolving needs of architects, planners, and building owners.

Stopray Ultraselect 60/27 boasts a remarkable triple silver coating that achieves outstanding selectivity (S = 2.22) and an excellent solar factor of only 27 percent. This ensures optimal protection against overheating during summer months, reducing the reliance on air-conditioning systems. With a high light transmission of 60 percent, indoor spaces are filled with abundant daylight all year round. The glass’s low light reflection of just 11 percent (external) and 15 percent (internal) guarantees exceptional transparency, offering an undistorted view of the surroundings. Moreover, its impressively low U-value of 1.0 W/(m²K) prevents unnecessary cooling in colder temperatures, resulting in reduced heating costs and environmental benefits.

AGC introduces two more remarkable additions to their range: Stopray Neutral 60/33(T) and Stopray Neutral 50/27(T). These solar control coatings feature a double silver coating and exhibit superb neutrality, making them ideal for a wide range of architectural applications. The “T” versions, designed for toughness, can be seamlessly combined with their non-toughened counterparts, ensuring a consistent appearance throughout the façade, even when flat and curved panes coexist.

Stopray Neutral 60/33(T) offers excellent light transmission of 60 percent and a high solar factor of 33 percent. This results in bright and inviting spaces that remain shielded from excessive heat. For enhanced solar control, Stopray Neutral 50/27(T) maintains respectable light transmission of 50 percent while offering even more efficient solar management at 27 percent. The glass’s low reflection of just 13 percent (external) and 11 percent (internal) minimizes unwanted glare from artificial lighting, providing exceptional visibility, especially during nighttime. Furthermore, both variants feature a low U-value of 1.0 W/(m²K), ensuring reduced heating requirements on colder days.

AGC is dedicated to environmental sustainability and the development of eco-friendly glass solutions. All products in the Stopray range have been awarded Cradle to Cradle Silver Certification, a testament to their environmentally responsible production processes. In line with AGC’s low-CO2 production approach, these solar control coatings are also available in low-carbon glass variants. By opting for low-carbon glass, architects and planners can enhance the environmental credentials of their buildings, earning recognition under certifications such as DGNB, LEED, and BREEAM.
