Zippe Completes Batch Plant Installation for Visy’s New Glass Facility in Australia

A new batch plant supplied by Zippe for Visy’s glass manufacturing facility in Yatala, Queensland, Australia, is ready for start-up, marking an important milestone in the development of the company’s new container glass production site.

Designed to supply two furnaces, the installation has been engineered to meet current production requirements while allowing for future capacity expansion. Furnace No. 1 is now approaching start-up following months of project development and installation work.

The scope of supply includes complete batch plant equipment, high-precision container scales, Zippe’s BWS™ cullet belt scales, two industrial mixers and two integrated cullet return systems. The installation also incorporates an automation and process control system based on Siemens SIMATIC S7-1500 technology, supported by AVEVA Plant SCADA for centralised monitoring and supervision.

Particular attention was given to operational reliability, process visualisation and digitalisation. The system includes alarm and event management, intuitive operation and a scalable architecture designed to support future optimisation.

Engineering services were delivered in accordance with Australian requirements, including RPEQ-certified engineering, alongside installation supervision, commissioning support and operator training.
