Sherwin-Williams has officially opened its expanded architectural paint and coatings manufacturing facility in Statesville, North Carolina, making it the company’s largest manufacturing plant in North America.
The expansion includes nearly 50,000 square feet of improvements, adding production space, automation enhancements and four new rail spurs. The upgrades are designed to streamline material handling, improve operational efficiency and increase manufacturing capacity to meet customer demand.
The facility also works alongside a nearby distribution service centre, which connects production, transportation and distribution with Sherwin-Williams’ wider global operations. Together, these facilities are intended to improve supply-chain responsiveness and the movement of products across North America.
“This facility gives us more flexibility and efficiency in how we manufacture and move products across our global supply network,” said Heidi Petz, chair, president and CEO of Sherwin-Williams, at the opening ceremony.
Sherwin-Williams has operated in Statesville since 1993. The company selected the location for expansion because of its transportation infrastructure, skilled workforce and strategic position within its manufacturing and distribution network.
The investment was supported by a public-private partnership involving the company, the state of North Carolina, Iredell County and the City of Statesville.
