Storvik and Charl-Pol Launch Alumotion to Advance Aluminium Smelter Automation

Storvik and Canadian technology company Charl-Pol are launching Alumotion, a new Canadian joint venture focused on robotised automation solutions for the aluminium industry.

The venture will target Canadian aluminium smelters, providing robotised anode assembly systems supported by local engineering, manufacturing, project execution, commissioning, operation and long-term maintenance capabilities.

Alumotion builds on more than two years of cooperation between Storvik and Charl-Pol, during which the companies have jointly developed projects and identified opportunities to combine their expertise in the Canadian market.

Storvik contributes experience in automated aluminium-industry systems, including industrial robotics, automated material handling, machine vision and condition monitoring. Its capabilities cover the development, integration and operation of automated production systems.

Charl-Pol brings an established Canadian industrial presence and expertise in project management, metallurgy, welding, equipment manufacturing, repair and maintenance. Its local infrastructure is intended to provide Alumotion with the capacity to support projects close to customer operations.

The new organisation will cover the full equipment lifecycle, from engineering and project development through manufacturing, installation and commissioning, to operation, maintenance and continuous improvement.
