The transition from the GP19 to the new GP26 production statistics classification system has introduced several changes affecting flat glass products across the European Union.
According to Glass for Europe, three coated glass product categories have been moved from NACE code 23.11, “Manufacture of flat glass,” to NACE code 23.12, “Shaping and processing of flat glass.”
The affected products are non-wired float, surface-ground or polished glass sheets with non-reflecting, absorbent or reflective layers. Their previous codes – 23.11.12.12, 23.11.12.14 and 23.11.12.17 – are now classified under 23.12.14.10, 23.12.14.11 and 23.12.14.12, respectively.
Further changes concern other glass products. Multiple-walled insulating glass units have moved from code 23.12.13.30 to 23.12.20.10, while glass mirrors, whether framed or unframed, have changed from 23.12.13.90 to 23.12.13.00. 
The European Commission has indicated that the reclassification is intended to better align PRODCOM product codes with actual industry activities and help reduce double counting in production statistics.
The changes are relevant for manufacturers and other industry stakeholders reporting production data. Companies must review their reporting procedures and apply the new codes to products manufactured since 1 January 2026.
