Google’s new headquarters at The Bakery in Dublin combines the adaptive reuse of the former Treasury Building with a contemporary façade glazing specification focused on thermal performance, solar control and fabrication precision.
Designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris and Henry J Lyons Architects, the redevelopment incorporates more than 2,500 m² of triple-glazed insulating glass units, manufactured by Tvitec for façade specialist INASUS.
The insulating glass units feature solar-control coatings, laminated glass and heat-strengthened glass, combined with 16 mm black Super Spacer® warm-edge spacers.
The spacer system is particularly relevant to the manufacturing requirements of triple-glazed IGUs. Its automatic application enables precise and consistent positioning around the perimeter of the unit, maintaining the designed cavity dimensions between the glass panes. This level of dimensional accuracy is important when manufacturing large-format and multi-pane insulating glass units. 
As a warm-edge spacer, Super Spacer® also reduces thermal bridging at the perimeter of the IGU compared with conventional metal spacer systems. By limiting heat transfer through the glazing edge, the system contributes to the thermal efficiency of the insulating glass assembly and supports interior thermal comfort.
The continuous application of the spacer also contributes to a consistent edge-seal configuration. For triple glazing, where multiple panes and cavities must remain accurately aligned, controlled spacer placement is an important part of the IGU manufacturing process.
According to CRICURSA | Tvitec Group, the Super Spacer® system can be used for triple, quadruple and other multipane configurations, including applications involving thin glass.
At The Bakery, the combination of solar-control glazing, laminated and heat-strengthened glass, triple IGUs and warm-edge spacer technology forms a technically detailed glazing solution within the redevelopment of Google’s Dublin headquarters.
