HORN Glass Industries AG is carrying out the engineering and execution of a major furnace rebuild for Stoelzle Glass Group at its Hermanova Huť production facility in the Czech Republic. The investment supports the long-term modernization of one of Europe’s key sites for amber glass packaging, particularly for pharmaceutical and healthcare applications.
The project involves a complete rebuild of the glass melting furnace, including its forehearths and regenerators. HORN is responsible for the overall engineering and execution of the furnace modernization.
Construction began on August 5, 2026, with work starting at the glass drain. The cold repair is scheduled to continue for approximately 65 days, with production expected to restart in October 2026.
The upgraded installation will be equipped with a new end-fired furnace, featuring an increased melting area and double the previous electrical boosting capacity. The combination is designed to increase melting performance while improving the furnace’s energy efficiency. 
For Stoelzle, the modernization is particularly significant as the Hermanova Huť site serves demanding pharmaceutical and healthcare markets alongside selected food, beverage and spirits applications. The furnace upgrade is expected to support higher production capacity while lowering specific CO₂ emissions per tonne of melted glass, strengthening the plant’s long-term manufacturing efficiency and environmental performance.
