Polish glass processor MATPOL has transformed from a small family workshop founded in 1994 into one of the country’s leading glass manufacturers, supported by a long-term automation partnership with HEGLA. Based in Skawina near Kraków, the company has combined steady investment, family leadership and advanced production technology to expand its capabilities and improve manufacturing efficiency.

Founded by Roman Sagan during Poland’s economic transformation of the early 1990s, MATPOL initially focused on general glass processing before expanding into insulating glass production, which became its core business by 2004. The company’s product portfolio has since grown to include commercial glazing solutions and glass components for the window industry.

A major milestone came in 2022 with the relocation to a larger, purpose-built manufacturing facility designed to accommodate future growth. At the same time, MATPOL began implementing HEGLA automation systems, creating an integrated production environment centred on automated material handling and cutting technologies.

The facility now features a HEGLA portal storage system supplying three cutting lines, supported by automatic KPL shuttle racks that increase storage capacity while maintaining efficient material access. A standout installation is the ProLam 60 laminated glass cutting line, equipped with a six-metre bridge capable of processing oversized laminated glass formats that remain uncommon across Europe. The system also incorporates HEGLA’s ReMaster cullet storage technology, allowing offcuts to be automatically stored, tracked and reused to improve material utilisation.

Monolithic glass processing is handled by the OPTIMAX cutting table, while MATPOL has further expanded its laminated glass production with the AdvaLam + ProLam line featuring LSR laser technology, an accumulator and automated cullet management. The highly automated configuration reduces manual intervention, increases cutting precision and delivers consistent production quality.
