BIG’s EVE Music Hall Nears Completion in Croatia, Set to Become a Major Cultural Destination

BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group is approaching the completion of the EVE Music Hall in Čepin, eastern Croatia, a landmark cultural development designed in collaboration with SIRRAH projekt and Theatre Projects. Scheduled to open in early 2027, the 10,000-square-metre venue is positioned to become one of the region’s most significant destinations for music, culture, and events.

Located within the agricultural landscape of Slavonia, the project combines a live music venue, congress facilities, exhibition areas, a café, and rooftop event spaces. Once operational, EVE will be capable of accommodating nearly 4,000 visitors indoors and up to 25,000 guests during large outdoor events, festivals, and performances.

The architectural concept is organized around two independent volumes connected by a central public foyer. The larger structure houses the main music hall, designed to host concerts ranging from orchestral performances to large-scale productions and standing audience events. The smaller volume contains a flexible congress hall suitable for conferences, presentations, exhibitions, and corporate gatherings. Acoustic separation between the two venues allows simultaneous operation without compromising performance quality.

A defining feature of the project is its façade, which will be clad in locally sourced Slavonian limestone. The stone surfaces descend toward the ground in a curtain-like form, creating a visual reference to theatrical performance while softening the scale of the building. Strategic openings within the limestone envelope provide views into the interior, establishing a connection between visitors and the activities taking place inside.

The central foyer is sheltered by curved mass-timber structures that span the gathering space and extend into integrated seating elements. Mirrored interior walls amplify natural light and create visual depth, enhancing the experience of the public areas between the two halls.

Outdoor plazas and event spaces further extend the venue into the surrounding countryside, enabling a variety of cultural and entertainment activities beyond the building itself.

The EVE Music Hall represents BIG’s first project in Croatia and is expected to become the firm’s first completed dedicated music performance venue. By combining contemporary architecture, flexible event infrastructure, and strong regional identity, the development aims to establish a new cultural landmark for eastern Croatia and the wider Balkan region.
