Italy Accelerates Energy Transition at KEY 2026

Rimini is gearing up to host KEY 2026, Italy’s leading Energy Transition Expo, from 4 to 6 March. The event promises to be a showcase of practical solutions and technologies designed to reduce energy use, cut emissions, and speed up the shift toward cleaner, smarter energy systems.

This year, KEY will take over all halls of the Rimini Expo Centre for the first time. Visitors can explore seven connected areas, covering everything from photovoltaics and wind energy to storage, e-mobility, sustainable cities, and energy efficiency.

Some of the most exciting additions include:

  • HYPE – Hydrogen Power Expo: Highlighting the latest in hydrogen and fuel cell technology, co-organised with Hannover Fairs International.
  • Su.port – Sustainable Ports for Energy Transition: Exploring how ports can electrify operations, embrace floating renewables, and adopt green logistics.
  • Innovation District: Showcasing green start-ups and SMEs, along with initiatives like Green Jobs & Skills and the Lorenzo Cagnoni Innovation Award.

Energy efficiency is at the heart of KEY 2026. The Sustainable Building District, run with Green Building Council Italia and Federcostruzioni, will bring together Italy’s full construction and infrastructure network. In addition, the expo’s Call for Papers is inviting research from universities, companies, and institutions. The 25 selected contributions will be published in a special issue of QualEnergia Science during the event.

KEY 2026 is also expanding its international focus, with attention on Africa (North and sub-Saharan regions), Turkey, and European countries including Germany, Spain, the UK, Poland, Serbia, and the Balkans. Ahead of the expo, organizers previewed the event during a roadshow in Cairo, Belgrade, and Warsaw alongside Ecomondo 2025.

KEY CHOICE – Exploring PPAs

On 3 March, the KEY CHOICE B2B event, developed with Elemens, will dive into the latest opportunities in Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). Meanwhile, IEG will host DPE – International Electricity Expo, covering generation, transmission, distribution, safety, and automation.

With its mix of cutting-edge technology, international collaboration, and practical solutions for a low-carbon future, KEY 2026 looks set to be a must-visit event for anyone involved in the energy sector.
