Qemetica Glass has completed a major investment project at its glass plant in Iłowa, Poland, with a total investment of PLN 70 million. The project involved the reconstruction of the site’s core furnace and the installation of advanced, fully automated glass forming lines.
The new furnace, with an initial capacity of 110 tonnes per day (tpd), is expandable to 140 tpd, and represents a key milestone in Qemetica Glass’s strategic roadmap. The investment, implemented between 2024 and 2025, is designed to meet increasing market demands for product quality, flexibility, and sustainability.
“This step aligns with our business and ESG goals,” said Robert Janeczko, Head of Business Unit Glass and President of the Management Board. “It responds to growing customer expectations for responsibly sourced products.”
The furnace rebuild supports the company’s target to reduce CO₂ emissions by 20% by 2029, primarily through lower natural gas usage, higher cullet content, and planned renewable energy adoption.
The new IS machines enhance forming precision and efficiency, enabling Qemetica Glass to expand into new packaging formats like twist-off jars and bottles, while maintaining its strength in lantern and Comfort jars. A new Warehouse Management System is also planned for deployment by late 2025.
