Mössner Automation Drives Efficiency for Aerospace Aluminium Production at Service Centres Aero Germany

Mössner has developed and commissioned an automated sawing system for the production of contour-cut aluminium semi-finished products for Service Centres Aero Germany (SCA) in Remshalden, Germany.

SCA has been a recognised Aerospace Service Provider since 1987.

The aim of the system is to cut aluminium plates as close to the final contour as possible – also known as near to shape or cut to size.

Mössner has 30 years of experience in the field of CNC-controlled contour saws.

The new system makes it possible to cut semi-finished products in such a way that less material needs to be removed in downstream processing steps.

This not only reduces the processing time on milling or machining centres, but also increases material efficiency: fewer chips are produced, while solid offcuts can be better fed into the material cycle.

Intelligent cutting strategies also allow more parts to be obtained from an initial panel – an aspect that further improves the cost-effectiveness of the process.

The sawing system is equipped with an automated feed system and an automated scrap removal system, which reduces the amount of personnel required.

Several CNC-controlled servo axes take over the precise contour guidance. The contours can be programmed directly in the control system or generated automatically using post-processors.

The system can be optionally equipped with additional modules, including automated labelling systems or additional machining processes such as drilling.

Mössner has offered sawing and automation solutions for the aluminium industry for 125 years.

In the field of aluminium technology, Mössner offers precise sawing and milling systems for both primary and secondary aluminium production.

These systems enable the processing of rolling ingots, T-bars, blanks, contours, round blanks, samples, ingots, and plates.
