Vitro Architectural Glass is proud to announce that its innovative **VacuMax™ Vacuum Insulating Glass (VIG)** has been recognized with a **2024 Best of Products Award** from **The Architect’s Newspaper (AN)** in the **Building Materials + Facades: Glass Category**.
This prestigious award is a testament to the product’s exceptional performance, aesthetics, and value.
A distinguished jury composed of architects, designers, educators, curators, manufacturers, and AN editors carefully evaluated submissions based on criteria such as innovation, aesthetics, performance, and value. VacuMax™ VIG stood out for its groundbreaking advancements in thermal performance and its commitment to design excellence.
In early 2024, Vitro significantly enhanced VacuMax™ VIG, pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency and visual appeal. The latest version incorporates **Solarban® 70 solar-control, low-e glass**, resulting in a remarkable **79% improvement in U-values**. This translates to industry-leading **R-values of up to R20**, rivaling the performance of traditional walls.
The product’s visual improvements are equally impressive. Vitro has eliminated vacuum ports and discreetly concealed “getters,” creating a seamless and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
VacuMax™ VIG consists of two fully tempered lites of glass separated by a non-leaded metal seal and a vacuum air space. Its slim construction and light weight allow for easy integration into various glazing systems, window frames, and curtainwall applications. It is particularly well-suited for retrofit projects, where it can often replace monolithic glazing in older buildings.
With its innovative insulating technology, VacuMax™ VIG delivers thermal insulation performance that surpasses conventional insulating glass units by three to five times and surpasses monolithic glass by up to 20 times. This superior performance makes it a valuable solution for sustainable design, reducing energy consumption and lowering carbon footprints.
This award from The Architect’s Newspaper is a significant validation of Vitro’s commitment to developing high-performance, innovative glass products. VacuMax™ VIG is a testament to Vitro’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of glass technology and providing architects and designers with exceptional tools to achieve their sustainable design goals.
