Starting immediately, ane.energy will supply around 14.5 gigawatt-hours per year to the technology group SCHOTT via a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) from a solar park in Schleswig Holstein, Germany.

The world’s leading specialty glass-maker will use the green electricity at its headquarters in Mainz, as well as plants in Grünenplan, Mitterteich and Landshut. The CPPA covers around five percent of the company’s annual electricity needs in Germany. The contract was initially concluded for a term of two years.

As per the delivery agreement, the company receives green electricity directly from the solar park, along with “as produced” guarantees of origin from ane.energy. The quality is further certified by EKOenergy.

SCHOTT faces the challenge of achieving climate-neutral, energy-intensive production. SCHOTT aims to meet this goal by 2030 and is pursuing much more ambitious goals than its international competitors. A key step is transitioning production from gas to electricity sourced from renewables such as photovoltaics.

To power a single melting tank with electricity, the company requires energy equivalent to the annual consumption of up to 10,000 single-family homes. “We are pleased that, together with ane.energy, we are getting a lot closer to our decarbonization goal,” said Thomas Hahn, Global Category Manager Energy at SCHOTT.

Like it has with many industrial companies already, ane.energy is helping SCHOTT in achieving its ambitious climate targets. With its extensive portfolio, the green energy specialist tailored a contract by strategically selecting suitable plants.

“This CPPA shows that renewables are capable of reliably supplying industrial companies,” said Ralf Höper, Managing Director of ane.energy.

The company currently manages several thousand megawatts of power through its virtual power plant.

In the vibrant landscape of Tirana, Albania, Roland Glass is carving a niche as a pioneer in environmentally sustainable practices within the manufacturing sector.

Under the visionary leadership of CEO Mr. Roland Feto, the company is committed to making safe and forward-looking investments, particularly in photovoltaic systems aimed at reducing carbon footprints. This strategic emphasis on innovation not only enhances operational efficiency but also aligns with global efforts to promote sustainability.

A Vision for the Future

Mr. Feto’s leadership is characterized by a clear vision that prioritizes the latest technology in machinery while also focusing on ecological sustainability. Over the next five years, Roland Glass has earmarked significant resources to upgrade its processes through cutting-edge technology and renewable energy solutions. This dual focus serves as a roadmap, guiding the company’s investments towards achieving maximum results in both operational performance and environmental responsibility.

The integration of photovoltaic systems stands as a testament to this commitment. By harnessing solar energy, Roland Glass aims to mitigate the impact of its operations on the environment, thereby contributing to broader goals of CO2 reduction and sustainable manufacturing. The company recognizes that the future lies in renewable energy sources, and it is determined to lead by example in its industry.

Current Achievements in Photovoltaic Systems

As part of its ongoing efforts, Roland Glass has successfully installed a total of 450 kilowatts (kW) of photovoltaic capacity on its premises. This ambitious project consists of 330 kW located on the upper section of the silo and an additional 120 kW installed on the façade or wall of the facility. This approach not only optimizes the use of available space but also showcases the company’s innovative spirit.

Significantly, the installation of the 120 kW photovoltaic system on the silo wall marks Roland Glass as a trailblazer in Albania and the Balkan region. This pioneering effort demonstrates the company’s commitment to exploring unconventional approaches in renewable energy implementation. By choosing the silo wall as a location for solar panels, Roland Glass has set a new standard for how businesses can effectively utilize their infrastructure to support sustainable initiatives.

The Significance of Innovation and Sustainability

In today’s world, where climate change poses significant challenges, the importance of sustainable practices cannot be overstated. Companies like Roland Glass are at the forefront of this movement, proving that profitability and environmental stewardship can coexist. By investing in renewable energy technologies, businesses not only reduce operational costs over time but also enhance their reputation as responsible corporate citizens.

Mr. Feto’s investment strategy underscores the idea that embracing innovation is essential for long-term success. The photovoltaic systems installed at Roland Glass not only provide clean energy but also align with global initiatives to decrease reliance on fossil fuels. This alignment with sustainable practices is paramount in an era where consumers and stakeholders are increasingly prioritizing environmental responsibility in their purchasing and investment decisions.

Future Directions: Commitment to Sustainability

Looking ahead, Roland Glass plans to expand its renewable energy initiatives further. The commitment to sustainable green technology will not only include more extensive photovoltaic installations but also the exploration of other clean energy solutions.
