Schüco UK Introduces Low Carbon Aluminium as Standard Across All Profiles

Schüco UK has announced a significant step forward in its sustainability strategy by introducing Schüco Low Carbon Aluminium as the standard material for all aluminium profiles supplied across the UK and Ireland. The change will take effect from April 1, 2026, marking a major move toward more environmentally responsible manufacturing within the construction sector.

The new low-carbon aluminium profiles achieve a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 3.84 kg CO₂e per kilogram, thanks to the use of recycled materials and renewable energy sources during production. Compared to standard aluminium profiles, this results in a saving of approximately 3.27 tonnes of CO₂ per tonne of aluminium, representing a reduction of around 46%.

According to Benedikt Herweg, the transition is a key milestone:
“This is an important step in our journey towards a more sustainable built environment. By making Schüco Low Carbon Aluminium our standard material, we enable our partners to reduce embodied carbon without compromising on quality.”

This initiative reinforces Schüco UK’s long-term commitment to sustainability and strengthens its position as a leader in delivering low-impact, high-performance façade solutions. By standardising low-carbon materials, the company aims to support architects, fabricators, and developers in meeting increasingly ambitious carbon reduction targets across the built environment.
