Edgetech’s Super Spacer® Heritage Takes Center Stage in the Remarkable Rebirth of Belfast’s Bank Buildings
In the heart of Belfast, Northern Ireland, stands the historic Bank Buildings—a Victorian-era masterpiece acquired by Irish retail giant Primark in 1979. Designated as a listed structure in 1980, this architectural gem faced significant challenges, having endured two fires, with the latest one in 2018 causing catastrophic damage to the supporting framework and timber construction. A meticulous restoration project ensued, and IMC Glass played a crucial role by providing 300 Slim-Glaze units, replacing the original single-glazed windows with a modern touch that respects the historical aesthetic. To achieve outstanding thermal efficiency with a nod to authenticity, Edgetech’s Super Spacer® Heritage, designed for double glazing in restoration projects, was integrated, allowing for slim double glazing with a unit thickness of just 14 millimeters and a remarkable Ug value of 1.2 W/m²K.
