Passive Windoor has integrated the Sparklike Laser Portable into its insulating glass production process, enabling direct verification of argon gas concentration in sealed insulating glass units (IGUs) as part of its quality management system. The company, which specializes in high-performance windows and doors designed to meet strict thermal insulation and airtightness standards, introduced the technology in 2022 to improve quality assurance beyond conventional production controls.
Traditionally, argon filling is monitored using production parameters such as filling time, gas flow rate, cavity dimensions, and IGU configuration. While these variables help maintain a consistent manufacturing process, they do not confirm the actual gas concentration inside a finished sealed unit. Variations can still occur between units produced under identical conditions, making direct verification essential for ensuring thermal performance.
The Sparklike Laser Portable uses tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) to measure argon concentration non-destructively, allowing manufacturers to test fully sealed insulating glass during production, final inspection, or even after installation. This measurement principle was officially recognized in China’s GB/T 11944-2025 insulating glass standard, where TDLAS was introduced as an approved testing method in Appendix H when the updated standard came into effect on July 1, 2026.
